Alabama senator stays true to bet, wears War Eagle hat at work
Alabama state Sen. Roger Bedford is a man of his word. After making a bet with Senate President Del Marsh on whose alma mater would win the 2013 Iron Bowl, Bedford agreed to his end of the gamble and wore a War Eagle hat on his first day back on the job.
On the first day of the 2014 legislative session yesterday, Bedford spoke to his peers about the state's matters until finishing with a strong "Roll Tide," although it was severely diminished by the orange-and-blue eagle on top of his head.
"I was being a good sport, and quite honestly, I thought I'd be wearing an Alabama hat today," Marsh said.
Fortunately for Marsh, Chris Davis' "kick-six" return in the final second of the Iron Bowl sealed the deal for him and Alabama's fate.
The Tigers scored another point in the heated Auburn-Alabama rivalry after seeing Bedford sport the hat. However, it's refreshing to see the senator stay true to his word… even if it's the Tide he's supporting.
